And there's been some real thought put into the disposal of the bad guys, which mirror the various murders in gruesomely exaggerated fashion via bear traps, model villages and sea mines. It definitely qualifies as a bromance as far as the character interactions (like all good cop buddy films do) but the central mystery drives the plot along nicely with a dozen excellent side characters and a cracking script.
Even the casting of the local Neighbourhood Watch is truly inspired, consisting of (among others), James Bond (Timothy Dalton, whose `supermarket slasher' gets my vote for Best Supporting Actor this year), Callan (Edward Woodward), Bellocq from Raiders of the Lost Ark (Paul Freeman), the nanny from The Omen (Billie Whitelaw) and the villain from Lethal Weapon 3 (Stuart Wilson). This two disc edition is packed with over 3 hours of extras including a gag reel and 22 deleated scenes with optional commentary.I would highly recomend you buy this. Some excellent cameos by the likes of Bill Bailey, Martin Freeman, Cate Blachett and Peter Jackson and of course a well selected supporting cast with Timothy Dalton, Lucy Punch, Jim Broadbent and Paddy Considine make the sharp writing of Hot Fuzz a joy to behold.

Film fans are thrilled when they discover the wonderful, often specially commissioned, designs that are used on SteelBook editions. A big "Yarrp" to the very English action movie Hot Fuzz. They first worked together on Shaun of the Dead and this movie takes a lot of the elements from that film and applies it to this one which is a satire of the odd couple-buddy cop film.
It is rated R, and it is rated that way for a reason. It's one of those rare occasions I actually laugh out loud.
I watch this film every time it's on. I must admit I prefer this film out of the two. Some of my favorite movie lines are from this film. This is the best comedy film ever made!
