I do pretty minimal towing (either my quad or a small trailer) and I bought my Tacoma outright. Apparently it's the truck of choice, rust notwithstanding.If you're going to need the capability/capacity/seating of a larger truck I'd recommend the larger F150. Because of that reputation, 15 year old Tacoma's with over 180k miles still go for $12-15k in my area. It was fine and had all the bells and whistles. In my opinion it also looks better than the Ranger... you know for the ladies.I consider myself a ford guy, then a toyota guy, and I'd say it really depends on what you want, but the tacoma is probably the smarter choice.
