I removed drivers for keyboard, batteries. I didn’t give up though as I paid $1800 for this laptop and in now in the U.K, and an expired warranty, I couldn’t do anything about it.The only solution that worked was to let the whole laptop battery discharge to 0% and shut off, then close the lid, charge it overnight and in the morning I was amazed when the keyboard lights came on and the detach function began to work. Windows is the worst part of the Surface line, making an embarrassing display of the hardware. If you’ve tried the other troubleshooting steps and you’re still having problems detaching your keyboard, try resetting your Surface Book. This trick seems not to be working for me anymore.I've tried updating driver and all that and nothing.EDITED: 1/16/2016: I've just tried with a 15V 5A charger and same exact problem.Thanks for the update. 27 Questions Suraface book battery 2 not charge this computer has two batteries (1), one in the screen and one battery (2) in the keyboard, for about 3 days the battery 2 does not charge, I tried to remove the battery drivers (device management) and keep the access key pressed and high volume for 30 seconds but the problem continues to show up. At first it says not charging but later after some software update, not charging is gone but still had no way to charge it up. I am not sure therefore, if this is indeed a hardware fault of something in the software conflicting with the charging of the base.

This has resolved issues such as the Graphics card not being recognized, the keyboard not being recognized, failure to charge, and other random freezes for me every time. since the Microsoft one broke, the ac adapter is 31W 12V at 2.58A.I was hoping that the problem is due to the low power supplied but in that case wouldn't it say plugged but not charging?Also a few weeks ago it used to charge fairly good with this same charger after updating driver, it is also true that I had to plug it VERY slow and in angle otherwise it wouldn't do anything kind of like now. If problem not solved by following all these steps then final solution is to change keyboard battery.
