However, in this whole fight, I shot down 1 plane and it was a fighter from the Langley after I sank it.French destroyers are supposed to be fast right? Now, 16.4km doesn’t seem bad. Bayard excellent torpedo arcs facilitate this while kiting which is all kinds of awesome when you pull it off.
I think that it’s clear enough by now, I really recommend the Bayard! More layers of armour means more autobounce checks. She is equipped with a powerful Engine Boost () consumable which enables her to reach a very high sustained top speed, especially when used in tandem with a Sierra Mike signal flag. I’m more thrilled over that than perhaps I should be. She’s also shackled to the same 90s reload that afflicts most of the French triple torpedo launchers, so they’re pretty much a one-shot weapon in most encounters.Overall, her fish are nice to have, but they’re not game winners in of themselves.Oh god, no. When equipped with the Sierra Mike flag and with the Engine boost active, she reaches 41.58 knots. A review done on time.
Her speed, stealth and firepower are all ready tools eager to be used and abused to generate some good numbers.
Still, it’s not like I’m making any headway on my backlog. The following is a review of Bayard, the tier VIII French light cruiser kindly provided to me by Wargaming. I asked the devs point-blank before publishing this review if the proposed Otherwise, I don’t really have too much to say here. WELL MUAHAHAHAHA! The Bayard is a fantastic roaming cruiser. This main belt protects her citadel that is in spaced armor configuration. Thanks to this, her citadel is much narrower than the ship and enemy AP shells will overpenetrate quite a few times. Bayard is a Tier VIII French cruiser primarily excelling in 'run and gun' tactics.
Once fully specced for it, it goes down to 9.6 km detection by sea and 5.8 km detection by air. The ship we all got upset about two years ago doesn’t mean anything now!
That’s right! Neustrashimy, Dreadnought, Lenin and now Sirocco has been tossed onto the pile. Celebrate any fires or direct damage they cause — such occasions will be few and far between. She has the option of two different camouflage patterns.I’m only talking about the premium consumables here. She certainly cannot compete with Monpelier and Cleveland for the close island-support role. Her torpedoes are also nothing to write stories about.Another very dark point is that she relies too much on her consumables to perform well.During the testing of the Bayard, I used the following captain build and upgrades:When he will be available, I strongly recommend using Philippe Auboyneau as a captain for French destroyers by the way.Now that this review is done, it is time to start the giveaway. The first is the aforementioned crimes against humanity: her firing arcs.
To the best of my knowledge, the statistics discussed in this article are accurate as of patch 0.8.6.
There’s a lot of possible combinations here.Let’s get Bayard’s supplementary weaponry out of the way first. As with most cruisers, Bayard’s secondary guns are completely forgettable. With her bad fire angles perpetually encouraging her to expose her broadside, she sets herself up readily for disaster. Her anti-torpedo protection is nice. When opening them, I got these drops:Interesting thing to note, the drops for the flags and the other variable item are linked. #Alabamagate #BigMamie! After so many tier IX and X reward ships have been released since late 2018, it feels strangely refreshing to be reviewing a boring ol’ tier VIII premium that’s “only” available through the online store. Her rudder shift time is also quite good at 9.3 seconds base. The only downside is that it’s a French cruiser so like the others (Except Henri IV), her rudder is fairly vulnerable. Her concealment is also very good.
