Sorry, no headlines or news topics were found. please read our By clicking "OK" or continuing to use this site, you agree that we may collect and use your personal data and set Get a daily email direct to your inbox with our newsletterHollyoaks has been running for a staggering 25 years, which is sure to make a lot of people feel very old.Initially targeted at a teen audience, Hollyoaks was devised by Brookside creator Phil Redmond and first started airing in October 1995.The Channel 4 soap started with just one episode a week, but has since expanded to every weeknight after developing a large fanbase.Viewers initially followed the lives of just seven main characters, three guys and four girls, who featured in many explosive storylines.One major character was killed off in tragic circumstances after just a few months, while another is amazingly still on the show.Most of the original cast left after a few years, apart from Mr Hollyoaks himself, who refuses to leave the village.Hollyoaks has always been groundbreaking and covered many taboo topics that other soaps would not touch.Obviously one original cast member is still in the village, but the rest have gone on to have very differing careers.While some have gained even more fame since leaving the soap, others have faded and some have gone in very different paths.Here is what happened to the rest of the original Hollyoaks cast:Mr Hollyoaks himself first appeared on-screen during the opening episode of the soap back in October 1995.As the longest serving cast member, Nick has made Tony become the Ken Barlow/Ian Beale of Hollyoaks.Not many would have predicted that the lovable geek would be the only remaining original character when we first saw him in the village.Tony has always been a hit with the ladies, and he's been married to Mandy Richardson, her step sister Cindy Cunningham and Diane O'Connor.The village stalwart has been at the centre of some of the soap's most dramatic storylines over the years.Tony had an affair with stepdaughter Sinead, battled testicular cancer, lost a child to sudden infant death syndrome and discovered his long-lost son, who was later murdered.Fans were terrified that Nick was finally leaving the soap last year when Tony was seemingly killed off by evil Breda McQueen.But thankfully it was all a nasty trick by the show bosses and Tony was being kept hostage at a pig farm.In 2009, Nick was briefly written out of the show for a break so he could go and perform in a Cinderella pantomime.He's also appeared on a range of celebrity special TV shows including The Weakest Link, Soapstar Superchef, Celebrity MasterChef and Pointless Celebrities.Nick has been nominated for many awards for his role over the years and picked up a prestigious British Soap Award for Outstanding Achievement Award in 2017.
